Nevis, the Spanish word for snow, belongs to the Leeward Islands of the West Indies archipelago and is one of a chain of relatively young volcanic islands stretching from Saba to Grenada. The clouds around the mountain peak looks like a snow cap.
On March 1, 2007, my family arrived at Nevis with about 1 hour delay because of a heavy snow storm in our departure airport in Minneapolis, MN. In 12 hours traveling, we experienced the outdoor temperature changing from 20 F in MN to 80 F in Nevis. The warm sea wind and the hospitality of Four Seasons Hotel relaxed us from traveling fatigue. We started our 6-day vacation in Nevis island.
