I admit it: I was watching England in the World Cup....
However, suddenly there was a kerfuffle at the back of the cottage:
it was as if we were lining up to watch royalty pass through;
or a particularly old steam locomotive.

They weren't in any hurry, either: passing backwards and forwards
under my next-door neighbour's footbridge several times!
