Row on row
9 May 2006 (235)

Fovant, Salisbury, UK

A sign of early summer in the front garden!

I'm fairly certain that this is a meconopsis: but don't know which nationality it is!
(I'd like to think it's Welsh -- meconopsis cambrica -- ...for Ade!)

(I'm told it could also be escholzia californica
-- or even
eschscholtzia, named after a German botanist --
but don't know what the difference is...!)

Whatever the name, that's a beautiful image!

Wonderful herald of the summer -- and just as long lived... and it's Welsh (or possibly Icelandic), but certainly not Californian... trust me I know my onions!
