This is the first real view you get of the whole castle.
It must have been awe-inspiring when intact, in the 17th century!
The front of the castle -- and the main hall -- is towards the left-hand side of the picture;
and you can see the later Banqueting House (built in the late 18th century as a refreshment room for visitors), on the right.
