I found these rotting sleepers discarded next to one of the few field-gates around here that has no right-of-way through it.
Not unusual... -- as used railway sleepers are often the building blocks for all sorts of agricultural storage, etc..
However, I'm not so sure if the chain was simply used to haul them, and then forgotten;
or has (or had) some other purpose.
It struck me as an interesting metaphor, though.....
