The Service Wing and Outbuildings are not as old as they first appear:
being built "on the site of the old kitchen garden by George Hammond Lucy
in 1829 to provide up-to-date servants' quarters; it was later extended by Henry
Spencer Lucy [as the] Lucys intended to be hospitable, and the Elizabethan kitchen
could not provide the standard of cuisine they wanted."
