These terns are often posing in parallel...

I also looked at this very closely to see if you used PS and I was like..wow he did not! They remind me of soldiers standing in formation, they do a better job though they appear to keep silent!

This.. and the previous one - real cute, Herb.

A tern to the right LOL ! How perfect they are.
Saskia 12-Jan-2005 15:38
Wow! It looks like one of those 'find the seven differences' thing. Cool shot!!
Michael Gehrisch12-Jan-2005 14:48
Herb I think you've got a double exposure on your hands, you might want to send in that 10D for service ;-) Nice shot!
Guest 12-Jan-2005 14:18
unbelievable... so funny!

Herb ... I thought you did a good job yesterday training the birds to line up nicely, but I see you have improved your technique greatly in 24 hours! Do you threaten them or promise to reward them?

A fabulous photo ... I think this is what they call a 'keeper'.

When I saw the thumbnail, I immediately thought it was photoshopped. What a fantastic capture.

Fantastic, what a rare catch.
Dawn12-Jan-2005 06:30
Wow.. Great shot! I would almost think you'd doubled this up!
Bryan Murahashi12-Jan-2005 05:38

I'm enjoying all the comments, and shaking my head. This is just unbelievable! If you don't enter this in something, Herb, I'll hold my breath until I turn blue. Fantastic. Voting for this one for sure.
Laryl12-Jan-2005 04:25
wow you have to look so close to see it's not just a double! lol thanks for the smile
jypsee12-Jan-2005 03:14
Herb, these are royal terns; I can recommend the Stokes Field Guide to Birds. The photo is terrific!!
Chris12-Jan-2005 03:07
Excellent catch and great photo, as always
Karen Leaf12-Jan-2005 02:59
Herb, do you spike the water? Put salt on their tails? Bribe them with big fish?
Unbelieveable.
virginiacoastline12-Jan-2005 02:51
is the female on the right listening to her iPod?? . .amazing capture
Robin Reid12-Jan-2005 02:36
LOL at Danny's interpretation. Amazing job here Herb...their differences are so subtle, but .... Really fascinating.
Jeffery Stahlman12-Jan-2005 02:35
i told you yesterday that i love a good parade, nice shot.
Pepe Zyman12-Jan-2005 02:02
OMG! Excellent catch Herb!
Guest 12-Jan-2005 01:46
This made me smile. Subtle as they may be, there are differences in the two pairs. So I take it that some really hot BABE of a female tern strutted her wanton little self right by the boys as they were all posing for your group portrait. Nice shot, Herb.

Amazing.
Guest 11-Jan-2005 23:41
wow! thats great! took me awhile to figure that the bird(s) in the back (they look like old men w/ receeding hairline! :P ) were not the same bird! heh!
Christina Craft11-Jan-2005 23:41
Absolutely love this. You should enter it into a competition. The symmetry (sp?) is perfect and the colours are really cool as well. Great expression.
Dan11-Jan-2005 23:32
I agree, I see three differences :>) Nice capture.
Guest 11-Jan-2005 23:30
Oh my goodness...this is like one of those games in a kids magazine trying to figure out what's different. An amazing capture. I had to sit here and really look to convince myself these were different sets of bird! FANTASTIC :)
