Joop's Dog Log - Thursday May 13

See what I`m doing here?
I`m scratching the soil, moving dirt and dust. As if I need to bury something.
It`s what I do after I`ve relieved my bowels.
I don`t know why, I don`t think about it, I just do it.
Sometimes many yards away from the place where I did the deed.
Many dogs do this. It`s in our blood, in our nature.
It`s automated, it`s instinct.
Humans often laugh at me when I do this. They don`t realize they do the same thing.
For instance when they support a first human who has cheated them and lied to them,
and who has made a mess of a war. They support him anyway.
And they support other officials that the first human continues to support.
They like the tough talk of the first human. They don`t know why,
they don`t think about it, they just do it. It`s in their blood, in their nature.
It`s automated, it`s instinct.
I would laugh at these humans if it wasn`t so sad.

Well, Joop, now that`s a really interesting comparison. I don`t know tho. I think one act, yours, is a whole lot more natural, and surely less disgusting than the other. No matter how many times you scratch, my friend, there`s just no way yr going to be responsible for the death of not only American soldiers and Iraqi citizens, but of the dreams of a whole generation for their kids. He`s going to kill us all, Joop, if he`s given the chance. And that`s no sh*t!

Hey Jooperoo, I do that too! Every single time!!! My human calls it "spreading the news." Sometimes I turn a little as I do it and get some dried leaves and dirt on her legs just for fun. BUT my human does not have the instinct to "follow the leader." You are doing a great job spreading the news for the humans, too. -Sarah.

I do it most of the time but not all of the time .......my human would love to wiz in the dirt and then kick it into the crazy politicians` faces see how they like it Joop.....oh I forgot he plans on doing just that by voting soon .....hopefully for the lesser of two evils.

Haaaa haaaaa haaaaa. totally appropriate to equate taking a poop with gwb and his administration. Joop, you are one brilliant dog. I`ll be away for a few days or so...see you soon. Take care of your humans (you know humans are not quite as bright as we think we are). I just read what the nannish one said...."he`s going to kill us all"...and I will say that I have had the same dreadful thought. I don`t know about your part of the world, but here there is just a sense of uneasiness. He is so profoundly stupid...and his sense of himself as "doing God`s will" and that God is on our side...is very, very disturbing!!! I believe he has us in a religious war in which there is no winning...for anyone. He MUST be defeated in November...for the sake of the entire world.

Joop, I worry you are just "preaching to the choir," as we say here. Almost everyone in my social circle wishes we could kick dirt over this administration and be done with it. But ... there are many, many people who are still in support. Why? I can`t fathom it.

Oh man, Joop, we dachshunds do this, too! Bronte does not seem to. hmmmm. (The digging and scratching that is.) My mom seems to think the tough talk, supporting hate and following a war-monger is just ignorance and racism wrapped in a very nasty package. She is not usually like this, but cannot see a good ending to this situation. You are kind to call this instinct. My mom`s blood pressure is not so good. Let`s keep digging, maybe an answer is down there. somewhere........
