The Phare de Nividic (Nividic lighthouse) on a small island at the Pointe du Pern took many years to construct: from 1912 till 1936.
Big problems had to be overcome. Continuing storms and high waters made it almost impossible to erect the tower.
And the building had to be started all over again several times because the base got swept away by storms.
Finally, the architects decided to build a cable-way between the island and the building site so the work could proceed a little faster.
The pylon on the left (about 25 meters tall) used to hold the cable.
