A female Common Yellowthroat carries an insect in its beak while clinging by one leg to a plant
in Prairie Oaks Metro Park near Columbus, Ohio. In every photo, this bird has only its right leg
extended. When I looked closely at the other images, it doesn't appear that the left leg is injured.
It looks more like it can't extend, as if it is a birth defect of some sort. It hasn't hindered her
ability to capture insects and she had a male Yellowthroat hanging around, so I guess she's
doing alright. Additional bird images are in my Animals gallery.
