Supermoon and clouds

Hilliard, Ohio

I guess I could have predicted this. Whenever we have any sort of celestial event
(supermoon, lunar eclipse, meteor shower), it is always accompanied
by a cloud cover in central Ohio. I did detailed photo planning for this supermoon,
when the full moon was the closest to earth as it had been since 1948.
I used The Photographer's Ephemeris (an excellent photo app) to determine
exactly where I needed to set up my two cameras to get the moon as it rose beside
and above our community's water tower and I knew exactly what time the moon
would reach the perfect spots. The sky had been clear for two days and was clear
all day today, so I kept my fingers crossed. But around sunset a cloud cover started
developing in the northeast sky, exactly where the moon would rise. So instead
of getting a photo of a very large and very detailed moon beside and above the tower
I ended up with shots of an obscured very large moon near the tower. Bummer.
There will not be another supermoon this close until Nov. 25, 2034.
I predict it will be overcast that night.
