Mink

Westerville, Ohio

I found this mink standing in deep shade at the base of a tree beside a brightly lit stream running through the forest
in Sharon Woods Metro Park near Columbus, Ohio. It stared at me for about 20 seconds before disappearing down
the bank and into a burrow. I was very fortunate to get this shot. When I saw the mink I took a step back to get
beyond the minimum focus range of the 600 f/4L (the mink was eight meters away when I shot this) and quickly
dialed in plus 2/3 of a stop EV to offset the very bright background, but I didn't have time to change the ISO.
This was shot at 1/80th of a second with a very long lens. I'd like to credit the sharp focus to skill and steady hands,
but I admit it was pure luck. Additional wildlife images are in my Birds and Animals gallery.

Voted. That one of the best mink shots I've seen. Congrats!
If it were mine, I might dial back the blue tint a little.
