Hungarian Railway Museum

We paid a belated visit to the Hungarian Railway Museum, and it was fabulous -- I didn't even know it existed until a week ago. We actually went for a vintage car show, which was excellent, but I was enamored with all the many steam engines and locomotives on display.

The museum was created in 1999 on the site of the former North Depot of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV). It's the largest open-air rail museum in Europe but doesn't seem to be very well advertised or promoted since even train enthusiasts have been surprised to learn of its existence.
