I find shopping in foreign countries to be quite illuminating of the local culture, so I have decided to do what will probably be a pretty eclectic gallery on shopping, including merchandise I find interesting, malls, grocery stores, window displays, shopping center restaurants, whatever strikes my fancy. I have been snapping pictures for a while now of such things but have never really had a place to post them.

Before we moved to Riyadh we had been told that the only thing to do in the city was go to shopping malls, which definitely isn’t the case, but they are a big part of life here since there is no entertainment such as movies, theater or concerts, and malls are a place to keep cool in the heat. They’re also a great place to people watch, although unfortunately I can’t really photograph many of them.
