‘A Tribute to Iran’s Freedom Fighters’

We saw this exhibition on the National Mall when we went to photograph the “Dictator Approved” statue (previous picture).

The signboard accompanying the display says:

“Faces of Freedom, Light of Tomorrow: A Tribute to Iran’s Freedom Fighters

“This exhibition honors 60 years of Iran’s leading pro-democracy movement, the MEK, resisting both the Shah’s dictatorship and the current theocracy.

“Those who fell for freedom inspire Iran’s youth, fueling nationwide uprisings since 2018.

“These faces of the fallen embody the foundation and the promise of a free, non-nuclear, secular republic in Iran, one that is within reach.”

Sobering in light of what is currently happening in the world. Hopefully, those still holding the cause don't become just another face on a memorial.

touching, many people, so often young, have paid a heavy price in the struggle against religious fundamentalists of all stripes..

Great capture of this moving place !
Let 's hope that the "Freedom Fighters" will not be the main victims of the current ceasefire.

This is a nice tribute. Crazy that in 2025 we still let religious fanatics (most often hypocrites themselves!) control things.
