I’m posting some archived pictures from visits to the Arboretum over the years, just to give an idea of the beauty and variety of the trees and plants in this extensive park.
The National Bonsai & Penjing Museum is reputed to hold one of the finest collections of miniature masterpieces in North America, with bonsai originating from Japan and penjing from China.
This outdoor bonsai was a gift from the Imperial Household of Japan to the US in 1976. It’s a Japanese red pine that has been in training since 1795. Simply amazing that this tree is more than 200 years old!
The Chinese pavilion is in the background.
