Kumamoto Castle and Tani Tateki

Another shot from Tim’s field trips to other parts of Japan. Thanks to Jeremy, I can now say this is a shot of Kumamoto Castle on the island of Kyushu and a statue of Tani Tateki, a defender of the castle during the Seinan War in 1877.

This can be the Raven Black Castle at Matsumoto - I visited in 2019 -but I am not sure because of the statue. Beautiful image in all cases. V.

Very interesting in that the statue kind of looks like an American Civil War solider. The building behind him is definitely Japanese and quite beautiful.
