Hakone, ‘pirate’ sightseeing cruise ships

Hakone, in Japan's Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park west of Tokyo, is a mountainous town known for its hot springs and views of the iconic Mount Fuji.

We obviously took a trip there, and sailed to Hakone town on one of those boats, but I’m not really sure what else we did once we arrived. I don’t have too many pictures, and definitely not one of Fuji-san – perhaps the weather wasn’t clear enough to see it.

Although this company still exists, I've never took a tour on one of their boats any of the times that I've been in Hakone. Very unusual sight for Japan, but great for the tourists and a nice memory to have. A view from the water must have been interesting. Wish I'd seen that. I saw Mt Fuji from the shoreline only. She was peeping in and out each time I've seen her in person. However, we have a photo of her fully out with reflections on the lake that my husband took before we were married. His is the only framed wall photo in our home outside my office.
