The famous Raffles Hotel

Raffles Singapore is a historic luxury hotel that was established by Armenian hoteliers, the Sarkies Brothers, in 1887. There in 1989 it was closed for a refurb which was disappointing. Such a beautiful hotel.

Did you stay here? Although I've never been to Singapore, I know of this famous hotel. My older husband, who was a world traveler even before he met me, introduced me to Singapore Slings. Long story. Now, I have finally learned where he first developed a fondness for the drink. I never knew before why he talked about the Raffles as if had been there. He had! What a grand looking hotel. I'd love to see the interior.

quite the grand place...it's worth a visit to the Long Bar, with it's wondrous ambience and the novel ceiling fans..
