On Friday, neighbors found two small ducklings in the alley and captured one of them, while the other one got away. On Saturday we could all hear chirping but couldn’t find any ducklings in our yards and couldn’t pinpoint exactly where the chirping was coming from. On Sunday my next-door neighbor climbed over his (pretty high) backyard fence into his absent neighbor’s yard and found two ducklings sheltering there, in the record heat we’ve been having and without any water. They were collected by two women from City Wildlife’s Duck Watch team who had come on Friday for the first duckling and came again on Sunday to take the other two away to be rehabilitated in a flock they’ve been working with.
