Macau, the 'Las Vegas of Asia'

Macau is an autonomous region on the south coast of China, across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong. A Portuguese territory until 1999, it reflects a mix of cultural influences. Its giant casinos and malls have earned it the nickname "Las Vegas of Asia."

From the looks of that banner, we must have visited Macao in 1994 or thereabouts.

It looks almost European. The colonial influence is very evident. V

Interesting shot and info. I can quite honestly say I have no desire to go there!

Ah, you have crossed over to Macau then. Unlike HK which was previously a British colony, Macau was under the Portuguese and this shows up in many of the buildings in Macau. Like this vintage photo of the place. V
