Paw holding

This is a ritual we go through every night, after Tim vacates the sofa. Queenie looks for my permission to jump up on it and wants me to hold her paw for a while. The other night, when I got busy on my iPad and let go of her paw, she banged the sofa several times with her paw to remind me that she still wanted attention.

Although their paws aren't as big, Bella and Chile will frequently do the same. Chile also gets quite demanding about it. Is this behavior something that Queen learned after being adopted by you, or did she start immediately upon joining your family?
