Queen Victoria memorial, Ohinemutu

"The bust, at Ohinemutu, presented by Queen Victoria in 1870 as a mark of her gratitude to the tribes which maintained their allegiance to her during the wars of the 1860s. It is housed under a carved and painted canopy. In the background can be seen St. Faith's Church." (National Library of New Zealand)

It was situated in Ohinemutu, a Maori community in Rotorua, a town set on its namesake lake on New Zealand's North Island and renowned for its geothermal activity and Maori culture.
