I take a picture of these guys every year because the idea of vacuuming the streets is so alien to me, although I’m happy the city does it every fall. Residents are supposed to pile leaves in the tree boxes in front of their houses. Then, on vacuum day, somebody first comes around to sweep all those leaves into the street, after which this giant contraption drives very slowly by to vacuum them up. Right after they had finished our block, I was talking to my next door neighbor who was out on the sidewalk, and right behind her I could see a huge amount of leaves falling into the street. Luckily there should be one more vacuuming before winter sets in.
