‘A Survivor’s Journey’

According to the artist, Joel Bergner: “Inspired by true stories of domestic violence, this mural depicts a woman and child’s journey from a painful past to a brighter tomorrow with a myriad of support along the way. In partnership with the District Alliance for Safe Housing, which provides safe housing for women and their children.”

It was impossible to photograph it well, with close quarters in the alley and the sun obliterating the picture from the other direction, but I thought it was important enough to post anyway. Maybe I’ll get back there some time to get a better and fuller shot (but it wasn’t in a part of town we frequent).

Oblivious, posted earlier:

it makes a strong statement for sure, a dark side of a supposedly civilized society...the photo challenge here sounds a toughie, but your solution is admirable, and the POV preferable to a straight on shot..
