This palace was located near Tim’s hotel. When he arrived in Jakarta and said he was going to walk around to take some pictures, his control officer warned him against it, saying there were lots of trenches and manholes on the streets that he could fall into. He took a walk, anyway, and didn’t fall into anything.

Tim is in Jakarta for meetings, after a more than 24-hour trip to get there. He’ll go to Sydney next and return via San Francisco, having made an entire trip around the world by the time he gets home to DC.
