‘Hostages & wrongful detainees: Bring them home’

This mural represents 18 of the 65 publicly recognized American citizens who are being held hostage or wrongfully detained around the world. Many of the faces are from the last photographs their families took before their loved ones were taken. The mural was created in a Georgetown alley by Isaac Campbell on July 20; it’s unknown how long it will survive the weather since the photographs are really just pasted on the wall, so I wanted to see it before it disappears.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly unsharp.

A strong reminder that there are people abroad being held against their wishes, though it makes me wonder why, in the case of the basketball player, why she would carry marijuana to Russia. Here in Thailand marijuana has just about been legalized, but consulates for nations such as South Korea warn their citizens here that they may be tested when they return.

I should read before I comment. So they actually put big photographs up? That must have been quite a trick.

Many of them are just being played as pawns in a geopolitical game. Hopefully they will make it home soon.

superb shot, and smart to place Brittney Griner at the front as her case is high profile...there must be intense distress in the case of other hostages not as well known or supported..

Interesting. I wonder if they will be removed when freed.
