US Supreme Court

There were still a few people in front of the Supreme Court protesting its recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, ignoring precedent upon precedent (as well as public opinion) that guaranteed the constitutional right to an abortion. This followed the court striking down a 108-year-old New York state law restricting who can carry a gun as well as a case that blurs the distinction between church and state, and was followed by a ruling that hamstrung the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to mandate carbon emissions reductions. It seems to me that the extremely conservative majority of justices is bound and determined to radically change the fabric of life in America in line with their religious, ideological or political beliefs.

I wish I could have gotten down there when the major protests were going on, but it was just too far to walk there and back home again in the summer heat.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly unsharp.

An excellent documentary shot of these protesters. I am really hoping I can figure out a way to move to Canada or the UK when I retire. I don’t want to live in a theocracy. V

The prestige of the SCOTUS has fallen in the abyss.

Excellent reportage - so much to protest about these days between women's rights being eroded, gun laws, climate change. I'm sure there are always plenty of protesters in Washington DC.

A fine shot of this protest winding down. I hope we learn that we shouldn't rely on judges to legislate from the bench, not a good strategy. Here's a novel idea, pass actual laws subject to an actual vote in congress instead of relying on nine lawyers in black robes to push an agenda.

The protesters look like they have been there in the sun for a while. I wish them well.

the fences here underscores the schism between more realistic citizens and those delusional religion-inspired right wingers who aim to restrict freedoms and curb progress, all in the name of millenia old superstitions...

Incredible times. Nice documentation of the protest.

This is all so sad. Even the fact that the court has to have a physical barrier between it and the people it is supposed to represent. Let alone the moral and ethical divide it has created between itself and the people.
