Another elusive woodpecker

This little guy kept flitting around a couple of trees on the sidewalk, then flew into my next door neighbor’s yard and peeked out from behind a sign, clearly very camera-shy. This was all I could get on a dreary day of what I think is a downy woodpecker (but please correct me if I’m wrong).

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

I believe it is a downy woodpecker which looks just like a hairy woodpecker which is larger. The red on the back of the head means it is a male.

Super to catch this little woodpecker. They move so fast.

Yes, that's a Downy. Nice that you have them around. They have the most cheerful call.
