‘Orange stuff’

I have to admit, I don’t have a clue what this is, but it caught my eye while out on a walk with Sahraa. She wasn’t impressed by it and wanted to get moving when I stopped to take a picture of it.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

Yellow-bellied sapsucker, again, posted earlier:

What a lovely find on your walk. A fungus of some sort, but hard to say which it might be. Love the colour though. V

Looks like some sort of fungi. Not knowing if it might be toxic, it's a good thing that Sahraa didn't take too much of an interest.

Well I had to look up that species that victorswan mentions. He could be right. I found one picture with a similar color, just not quite as bright orange. It's fun to spot unusual things when out for a walk! V

It sure is a bright orange, I’ll bet Christine knows what it is. Nicely composed! V

Wow a very nice find hard to say if it is slime mushroom or a mushroom, to me it seems to be more of a mushroom given the shape it would be Calocera pallidospathulata, the slime mushrooms of your area I don't know very well, a lovely image Helen BV
