Ankara view

We lived in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, for seven years, 1996 to 2000 and 2003 to 2006. It was a sleepy, comfortable city when we first moved there but by the time we went back, it had changed significantly, to a sprawling metropolis of 5 million. I don’t have many usable views of it from our first tour, but this is looking over the botanic garden towards a popular shopping district where my newspaper was headquartered, with the huge Kocatepe Mosque visible top left. There were very few single family dwellings at the time (and probably now as well), and most everybody lived in large apartment buildings, including us.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

What a beautiful view with the water in the foreground and mountains in the background framing the city. V
