When we lived in Ankara, especially during our first tour in 1996-2000, I rarely saw women with headscarves and long coats in the capital city, which is why I was so surprised to see this school group in Istanbul. I believe that’s changed now, especially since the ascent to power of the current Islamist government, run by an authoritarian president. Still, it was so unusual at the time, I just had to take a picture.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.
