V(irginia) Avenue used to be for viceroy butterflies

I’m just posting this – sort of as a joke -- to finish off the gallery since there were originally 20 animal street name decorations, but this one was nowhere to be found. We went to this location several times but never could find the viceroy butterflies, probably because all the streetlights and signs had recently been replaced. They would have been much nicer than all the signs!

*****

The Capitol Hill Alphabet Animal Art Project, funded by the District of Columbia government and executed by the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop, comprises animals and insects on lamp posts and street signs representing the name of the relevant street, something like when a parent would tell their child, "G St... G is for Grasshopper." Over the years the project was expanded to include 20 such decorations in SE Capitol Hill, although one of them has unfortunately disappeared. Some of the pictures here also appeared in my scavenger hunt gallery as well.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Go right? Go left? I'm very confused.

It’s too bad there isn’t one there. I really like the colors in this image. V

That's too bad...a butterfly would be nice to see.
