Even this is a memory now

This was taken a few days after the insurrection at the US Capitol. Now, Constitution Avenue, the street from which this was shot, is closed to all traffic, and we’ve lost our most direct route home. Below is a picture taken a few years ago – from the same street but a bit further down the hill – showing what the grounds used to look like. I fear the freedom to enjoy them could be gone forever.
