Now there’s ‘protection’ from pedestrians

We drove down towards the Capitol to see what the area looked like six weeks after the insurrection on Jan. 6, thinking that perhaps some of the security precautions had been removed. Instead, what we found was even more fencing and security measures to prevent the public from getting anywhere near the US Capitol, congressional offices and federal buildings. Quite frankly, I was appalled to see the extent of it.

As seen here, the sidewalk between the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court –- from where I took a number of pictures a month ago -- has been blocked off by police tape. I can’t even begin to imagine why – pedestrians couldn’t get any closer to the buildings from the sidewalk, and now they have to walk in a busy street.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Rge damage down by 45 and his minions may live on indefinitely. A good documentation of the destruction already taken place to our freedom. V

Unfortunately it may be needed for quite some time but I think this fencing would look good at Mar-A-Lago!

I like the perspective for your capture......The shock of what happened 6th january and the threat apparently still felt by the goverment lead to these precautionary measures...V!

Hope it could end soon .V.

Looks like the secondary fortification should hold even if the rioters can break through the yellow tape.

I wonder how long, we as citizens, are going to have to put up with these extreme measures to protect our buildings from us?
Raymond Ma22-Feb-2021 03:13
It really is too bad...I would have thought that a lot of the fences and barriers would have been removed by now?!
It would be nice to move on now that there is some sanity in the White House. V

Closing the barn door after the horse got out.

I hope it returns to the pre Jan 6th state, but I suspect it will never be the same (like flying).

It is nuts out there. I think this is overkill.
globalgadabout22-Feb-2021 01:25
it's a thin line between precautions and paranoia...alarming what is happening in DC...strong angle here to show the extent of the closures..
