Not this way

One of the many street closures on Capitol Hill, about six blocks from the Capitol. Pedestrians could get through, but not cars.

*****

We went down to the US Capitol, or at least as close as we could get, to see what things looked like. I'd have to say it was an almost surreal way to spend a Sunday afternoon -- photographing the many Capitol Police, National Guardsmen, Metropolitan Police, military trucks, police cruiser roadblocks and high fences that now populate our beautiful city. I'm hoping that we can all come together as a country and put a quick end to this kind of thing because this is no way to live.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Beyond the police barricade, posted earlier:

Well, it's allover the news here. Not something to be proud of and I think nobody would have expect to see this happening. At least we have your photos to proof that it is not "fake news"

So sad to see the nation's capitol turned into a war zone. V

The colors on the police cars harmonize well with the red brick buildings. Great shot, and a statement on modern times.

I like the architecture of this red building behind the police cars.
Hopefully peace will return to this great democratic country!

What a powerful way to tell of this time.
It will be fascinating to study your work in the years to come.
So glad that you are documenting these happenings.

As you say, this is no way to live. Who'd have thought something that previous presidents handled gracefully (transitioning of the presidency) could lead to this. I hope the future brings more peaceful times.
