We have had a peony in this spot for at least 20 years, but it stopped blooming this summer because a fence we installed last year now blocks all afternoon sun. So we replanted it in a huge pot and filled in the hole with topsoil, which Sahraa promptly dug out and took over the spot for her own.

She had been looking at me when I came out of the carport, but of course when she saw my iPhone, which I had pulled out surreptitiously with the sound off, she turned away.
