Here one day, gone the next

The last of my next-door neighbor’s beautiful lilies. I was stunned to see the day after I took this that she had cut all four stems down. I asked what in the world had happened to them, and she said, “The petals were falling on the ground so I cut them all off.” What a waste; they had looked fine to me.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
