This is part of a series of shots of these two mallards, whose “romantic interlude” I witnessed. After posing for a formal portrait (previous/below picture), Mr. Mallard suddenly jumped on Mrs. Mallard, but apparently facing in the wrong direction. He then turned himself around, and finally posed again, looking very pleased with himself.

We thought we’d see what Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens in Washington, D.C., was like in winter. Naturally all the lotuses and water lilies were gone, but we did find some birds during our walk around the extensive grounds.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
