The window over the entry to the Apple store looks out on the National Archives, situated close to the National Mall. Mount Vernon Square, in the middle of which the Apple store is located, used to be a dicey area but with all the development going on (some visible in this picture), it has improved significantly, definitely during the day.
I do have my doubts as to how successful this store will be, given its enormous size, but I guess we’ll see.

We stopped by Apple’s new flagship store in DC, which opened on Saturday. It’s situated in the former Carnegie Library (DC Central Public Library), a Beaux Arts building constructed in 1903 and restored by Apple. The place is gigantic and also houses the new DC History Center and research library, owned and operated by the Historical Society of Washington, D.C.
