National Christmas Tree -- shut down by gov’t shutdown

The National Christmas Tree, situated behind the White House, was reportedly damaged when some man decided to climb it on Friday. As a result, the lights have been shut off since then for repairs, which have been “complicated” by the ongoing government shutdown, and the enclosure is closed to the public, also because of Trump’s partial shutdown of the government. The area is maintained by the US Park Service, which is one of the agencies that are now shuttered, so park rangers have been furloughed.

Update: A private park foundation funded the restoration of the lights on Monday, but people still are prohibited from entering the tree area.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

According to Dr Suess the Grinch hated Christmas because "his heart was two sizes too small." I believe there was also a reference to his head not being "screwed on just right."

the shutdown adversely affects so many people, and all for scoring political points...one friend has already had to change travel plans due to a national park that has also been closed....then there are a lot of staff affected, and likely taking a hit to their wages...seems you need a true leader down there, and not a petty spoiler..
