Bad 'hair' day

I’ve never seen this bird before at the neighbors’ feeder, but I think it’s an American goldfinch that looks like it's just washed its “hair.”

Yes, it is an American goldfinch with feathers transforming into its bright yellow summer colors. It's in the process of moulting from its duller winter colors.
