Added three more screen shots today of the bald eagle nest in Washington, D.C.
The newly hatched eaglets are now actively competing for food. The older one (by two days) has been quite aggressive towards its sibling, and I really wonder if it will survive the vicious onslaught. It doesn’t look too healthy in this picture.
The parents, Liberty and Justice, have a nest on the police academy grounds by the Anacostia River, and two eaglets hatched between March 17 and 19.
Liberty and Justice built their nest in 2005 and have raised one or two young every year since. They were named by former Police Chief Cathy Lanier, on the day of the Boston Bombing. She called a press conference at the eagle's nest to name them.
