Last picture in this gallery, for now, until we go back for a tour on a weekday, when more chambers in the Capitol should be open to the public.

This was taken in November from the US Botanic Garden at close to sunset, when the Capitol turns marvelous colors in that intense light. The statue of “Freedom,” which figured prominently in the gallery, tops the spectacular dome. At least now I have an idea of just how enormous it really is!
