We took a drive down the George Washington Parkway, which runs along the Potomac River to Mount Vernon (Washington’s plantation), thinking maybe we could find some birds to practice photographing.
This particular area was full of ducks, but full of a lot of shade, too. It was a challenge to capture them in enough sunlight to show off those beautiful, iridescent heads.
