The iconic “Declaration of Independence” by John Trumbull hangs in the Rotunda of the US Capitol and is one of eight enormous paintings decorating its walls. It was commissioned in 1817 and placed in 1826 and has been described as “somewhat historically inaccurate and anachronistic.”
