Drummond's red maple, in training since 1974

We visited the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum at the National Arboretum, reputed to hold one of the finest collections of miniature masterpieces in North America, with bonsai originating from Japan and penjing from China.

The form is magnificent with the massive trunk and layered foliage, and I love the tinges of different colour in the leaves.
