We returned to the National Arboretum on Sunday as I had wanted to visit their bonsai display and Japanese garden, and we also managed to take in their peonies, which were in full bloom.
This is a view of the area where the extensive azalea collections are located, which I had photographed last month http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/america_return_washington_arboretum and which are now pretty well spent. It’s hard to believe that this enormous garden (446 acres) is right in the middle of Washington, D.C., and luckily only a 10-minute drive from our house.
