On my way home from an appointment, I stopped by Eastern Market for some vegetables and remembered what a convenient place it is to shop on Capitol Hill. The 19th century building burnt down in 2007 but was renovated and reopened in 2009. It serves not only as a shopping place for locals but also as the venue for a huge flea market every weekend and has even become a tourist destination.

Eastern Market has numerous vendors who sell fruits and vegetables, cheese, meat and seafood, flowers and bakery products and also has an eatery that is reputed to serve the most popular breakfast on Capitol Hill, although I’ve never tried it.
