Tree down on Pennsylvania Avenue SE

This tree had fallen this afternoon onto Pennsylvania Avenue SE, one of the main thoroughfares in Washington. I haven’t been able to find any details about it other than the fact all four westbound lanes are blocked. I’d say!

To answer people's question, there was no storm.

That's Washington, DC, alright. Something is always getting in the way of smooth operations. I am sure it took some time to get things back to normal.

We watched several large trees come down in our yard this summer during a thunder storm "micro burst". It was really something to see! Sad to see these beautiful trees felled like that. V

Great shot Helen, but what was the reason that he fell.

Sure looks unusual, but these things happen sometimes. Glad no one was around when it fell. V

That's quite a large tree to have just fallen. Wonder if there was a storm. I'm sure it took some time to open that street back up.

I'm sure Donald Trump will say that Hillary Clinton did it! Eh, it's Washington after all!
So sad to see such a majestic old tree down like that ... did you have a storm?

Must have been one heck of a crash when that came down! Hopefully when no one was around.

And its a big tree too. Must have taken a while to remove it.

looks a formidable roadblock...supposedly pedestrians can take their time crossing here at the moment...
